About Us

Hi, I’m Julia Johnson

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor located near Binghamton, NY. I was born and raised in Upstate New York, where I reside with my family.

I graduated with my bachelor's degree in psychology from Binghamton University and my master's and educational specialist (EdS) degrees from Seton Hall University in professional counseling. I have been working in the mental health field since 2012, with experience in inpatient and emergency psychiatry, substance use, and individual psychotherapy.

I have been an adjunct professor since 2021, teaching masters-level students counseling topics to shape our future counselors.

I am also a Counseling Education and Supervision doctoral student scheduled to defend my dissertation in Spring 2027.

Outside of the counseling room, I’m passionate about spending time with my family, running and reading. I believe that life is a journey, and I’m honored to be part of yours.

My Therapeutic Approach

I take an integrated, client-centered approach to counseling, tailoring evidence-based practices to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual. Drawing from a diverse range of modalities—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), person-centered therapy, the Gottman Method, existentialism, and developmental theory—I strive to create a collaborative and supportive space. My focus is on fostering growth, insight, and meaningful change by meeting clients where they are and guiding them toward a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships.
